Goodbye, Colombia
Nothing lasts forever.
Exactly eight months ago, I hopped on a flight to Manizales, Colombia. After over a month here, followed by an adventure around South America, I decided to come back.
My last four months living in Colombia have been life-changing. I immersed myself in Colombian culture, learned a thesaurus-full of slang (not all of it appropriate), and perfected my Reggaeton dancing. Well…perhaps not the last one, but close enough.
I started a writing business and further divorced myself from life as a lawyer. It won’t happen again, I promise.
I accepted the unofficial role of Colombian sunset photographer.
I met people who changed my life and helped me grow. Esta vida es una chimba, parce. Nos vemos pronto.
I fell for an extraordinary young woman who I followed to Brazil, Belgium, and France. More adventures to come.
And so this beautiful chapter comes to an end. Tomorrow I fly back to the United States, exactly eight months after the adventure began.
The next phase will be no less grand than the last. In 2020 it currently looks like the US, Belgium, Mexico, Australia, and New Zealand are on the agenda.
But Colombia is where it all started. Estoy muy agradecido por la ciudad que me regaló mi alma. Te quiero, Colombia.
