After getting what I considered to be roughly one hour of sleep on my multi-leg red eye (the Fitbit declined to give me any credit), I landed in Manizales, Colombia this morning. After taxiing from the lone runway, I disembarked and made my way across the tarmac to the terminal, continuously rotating on my vertical axis to make sure I could soak in the scenery immediately–enough green to give Seattle a run for its money.
Tomorrow I am going to be dropped off at LAX with two backpacks, one large and one small (I intend to look like a turtle made of luggage). It will be the second time that I’ve taken a one-way flight leaving Los Angeles. The first time was in 2013 on my way to Columbia. This time it’s to Colombia. What a difference that single vowel can make.
